International Health & Safety Week 2017

Veolia International Health & Safety Week 2017 was launched on 18 September, 2017, and the key focus of this year’s campaign was the High Risk Management Standards; with the OH&S 5 Pillars, and Always Safe Rules unified into it. With an exciting schedule of events lined up, the week-long program have instilled safety messages through workshops and live demos to reiterate the 5 Pillars of OHS Culture, and the importance of effective communication of Always Safe Rules as we work continuously towards our objective; Aiming for Zero Accidents.
 
A series of events were organized from 18 to 22 September, 2017, and here are some of the engaging activities and demos that were integrated as part of the campaign:

  • Toolbox meetings were conducted by EHS personnel for field crews and depot employees to highlight and emphasize on the safety guidelines for Confined Space, Traffic Management, Hot Works, Electrical, Work at Height, High Pressure Water, Lifting Operations, and Control of Hazardous Energy
  • First Aider live demonstration was conducted at various sites to share and engage employees with hands-on training on the various first aid techniques such as bandaging, CPR, and AED functions
  • Sharing sessions on the 2016 High Risk Management Standards were organized and presented by the respective Supervisors, Team Leads and EHS personnel
  • Introduction to 2017 Five High Risk Management Standards by EHS department
  • 5S Training conducted by EHS department for office and depot staff
  • Presentation by EHS department on Ergonomics and Safety in Today’s Technology
  • Contractor Poster Competition Prize Giving Ceremony at the Hazardous Waste site
  • A Chemical Spill Drill was conducted at Veolia Industrial Services
  • Health and Safety Inspections at various operation and work sites
