Honestly, do you think that an annual 2-hour clean-up activity outlined with litter picking responsibilities is a superficial take on green movements planned by various organizations? No. The ideology behind the simple strategy of creating opportunities for group and individual participation is not obligation, but empowerment.
As an environmental services provider, Veolia reaffirms our lead in exhibiting efforts to drive the eco-movement by actively participating in the Keep Singapore Clean (KSC) Movement, which is an initiative spearheaded by the Public Hygiene Council (PHC). With an energetic team from Veolia’s Public Cleansing Department, we assumed our role as “environmentalists” in the annual ‘Operation WE Clean Up!’ exercise in the morning of 13 May, 2017, and concentrated 2 hours of intense litter picking at Toa Payoh Town Park!
By internalizing and reinforcing the rationale behind maintaining Singapore’s clean image, Veolia wants to inculcate greater ownership of the environment, where we continue to lead by example in the environmental services industry. Advocating and creating greater awareness on the importance of social graciousness in keeping our environment clean is our collective responsibility, and Veolia achieves it not as a requirement, but through beliefs and empowerment.
