The World Environment Day takes places every year on the 5th of June. Each year on this day, Veolia puts up a global initiative to raise awareness on environemntal issues. With the second volume of "Together, committed to the Environment" we encourage our employees to share their daily contribution to preserve our environment and help resourcing the world.
Among nearly 40 best practices shared by our employees, our EXCO team selected the 5 best entries at the end of September. Congratulations to our winners Yvonne, Peggy, Charlotte, Ellis and Lina (from left to right)! You can find their winning entries among all submissions listed below.

Yvonne
I love coffee and I like to use the empty capsules to fertilize my plants and as a deodorizer for my shoes & fridge to keep away the smell.
Recently, I managed to reuse my hair to produce a wig for a breast cancer organization and have encouraged friends with healthy hair that is more than 10 inches to do the same thing as well.
John
I would shop using reusable bags and if I do receive any plastic bags they are reused for rubbish disposal.
I always use a refillable water bottle daily to avoid buying bottled water.
Utilising composting bins for all my food waste & the segregated bins for paper and plastic items.
I like to buy organically produced items to reduce the use of pesticides and harmful chemicals.
Mohamad Taufiq
Paper production accounts for about 35% of felled trees, and represents 1.2% of the world's total economic output. Recycling one ton of newsprint saves about 1 ton of wood while recycling 1 ton of printing or copier paper saves slightly more than 2 tons of wood. This is why I think recycling paper is the most effective way in saving our environment.

The food we consume every day has a big impact on the environment and global warming. The carbon footprint of a vegetarian diet is only about half of a meat-intense diet. I cut down my meat and fish consumption to max. twice a week to reduce my personal carbon footprint and stay healthy. Here, I take-away my beloved Singaporean veggie-fast food by bringing my own plastic box, reducing styrofoam waste and taking it back home in my backpack or textile bag which I always bring along.
