Veolia Leads with Singapore’s First NEA-Licensed PFAS Treatment License

PFAS | Firefighting Foam Inquiry

VEOLIA EXPERTISE

Veolia First Company to Implement Advanced PFAS Treatment in Singapore

In response to these regulations, Veolia secured Singapore’s First License Granted by the National Environment Agency (NEA) for the treatment of firefighting foams containing PFAS, thanks to its global expertise as part of BeyondPFAS. Industrial trials conducted at Veolia's hazardous waste treatment facility in Singapore demonstrated a destruction and removal efficiency of up to 99.9999% for targeted PFAS compounds, confirming the reliability of high-temperature thermal treatment. This solution enables local industries to comply with the new regulations taking effect in 2026, while supporting Singapore's broader depollution and sustainability objectives. This milestone reflects Veolia's global reach and its sustained R&D efforts to remain at the forefront of PFAS management innovation.

SINGAPORE REGULATION

What the NEA Framework Requires?

As of 1 January 2026, Singapore has implemented strict regulations on PFAS-containing firefighting foams (AFFF) under National Environment Agency (NEA) guidelines and the Stockholm Convention.

What the Regulation Covers:  Operational firefighting foams, Training, testing and maintenance of foam stocks, Contaminated rinse water and flushing effluents from system transitions, Firewater, runoff and wastewater from firefighting operations, AFFF, AR-AFFF, FFFP. All organisations using or storing firefighting foam must comply with new concentration thresholds:

PFOS: < 10,000 ppb PFHxS: < 100 ppb   PFOA: < 25 ppb
